Cahill Expressway

Landscape
The Cahill Expressway is a short freeway in central Sydney, linking the Sydney CBD with the Eastern Distributor and the Sydney Harbour Tunnel. The view from the expressway looking across Circular Quay is amazing, especially in early spring when the jacaranda trees provide a beautiful purple backdrop that really makes the colours pop. The landmarks and city give a great contrast with the trees and water, and the whole scene is lit up golden if you come later in the day just before sunset. The easiest way to get here from Circular Quay is the glass elevator just next to Wharf 2.
Time of day
Visit in early spring for the purple jacaranda trees, and try for earlier or later in the day for softer light. The Opera House and Harbour Bridge also look amazing during sunset and sunrise here.
