Set in lush greenery, all the more striking for being in the middle of Tokyo, this shrine features tunnels of torii gates, carp ponds, and thousands of azalea bushes that bloom every spring in April as part of the famous Bunkyo Azalea Festival
Busiest around lunchtime and early afternoon, so early mornings or late in the day is best for avoiding crowds
